2/9/2019

Throughout the year, second graders have been sharing information about themselves that make up their individual identities.  We began by creating our ripped paper self portraits, discussions about our family traditions.  We concentrated our studies by reading books that focus on the concept of Mirrors, Windows and Doors.  The characters and stories in some books act as a mirror, they remind us of ourselves and provide comfort to the reader who makes connections to the book, finding specific similarities.  Books that are windows or doors allows the reader to appreciate different cultures, experiences and people.  We will continue to share our treasured personal experiences, while respecting everyone else in our classroom and around the world.  We are looking forward to our field trip to the Montclair Art Museum on Feb. 20th.  The second grade will participate in a program called Constructing Identity in America.
