Non-Fiction Readers Are Growing Their Knowledge

Second graders are fact finders as they kicked off their non-fiction unit in reading. From animal facts, to facts about volcanoes, to facts about about former United States presidents, they have decided that knowledge is power and facts matter. Did you know that the White House took eight years to build? Did you know that the tip of your nose has no bones? Non-fiction readers are surely growing their knowledge and asked to pay attention to details as they read text that gives them information. As they read, the are constantly thinking, "What is this book teaching me?" Each day they are sharing new fact learned with their classmates.
