All three second grade classes visited the Israel Crane House in Montclair to help them further their understanding of what Montclair was like long ago. Students enjoyed touring this lovely historic home which is just .5 miles from Brookside. They were able to see the one room school house, visit the chickens out back, and spend time in the old fashioned kitchen learning how meals were prepared prior to stoves. These visits go hand in hand with our second grade local walking trips to collect data which will take place in May. Students in 2S will gather data in Watchung Plaza and 2M will be working near Church Street, and 2A will visit Upper Montclair. All classes will exchange and share their findings on a collaborative bulletin board in the coming weeks.
