2M Scholars took the stage this week to perform their play, The Lorax. In the story, a beautiful land is soured when The Once-ler capitalizes on tufts of native Truffula Trees to make threads, an item that builds his fortune. Through his venture, the land is robbed of every single Truffula Tree and, along with them, the homes of many animals and living things. However with the protection of the Lorax, the land is given hope by the replanting of a Truffle Tree seed. It is this hope of a better future that ends the play. The students have worked hard to teach this message of hope to each other and, finally, to their audience. They collaborated together as a team; painting the set, learning the script and music, and remembering where and how to move on stage. Although nervous for the performance, the students have supported each other throughout the entire process and were excited to stand together on stage. They have much to be proud of, and will always have the memory of their second grade play. A special thank you to Ms. Weaver, Mr. Paulson, Ms. Fine, Mr. Joe, and Ms. Gonzalez, and Mrs. Bates for helping 2M actors prepare. 2M would especially like to thank their parents who helped them rehearse at home and put their costumes together.
