2N students have been working since returning from winter break to prepare all the elements they need for their class play performance. This Friday they worked together to present their play titled, Lulu, Lester and the Brontosaurus. The script was based on a book titled, Lulu and the Brontosaurus, written by Judith Viorst and illustrated by Jane Smith. Students spent the time in the weeks leading up to their final performance, learning their lines and then learning how to deliver their lines in a larger open space and stage area. Their individual and collective goals were to speak slowly and use big voices so their audience could follow the play's storyline. They were also challenged to use facial expressions and gestures when they spoke or sang to help the audience understand how their character was feeling. When students were not rehearsing with the script, they were creating promotional posters, props and background scenery to help support their performance. Students should feel proud about all the great work they in preparing for and performing their 2nd grade class play!
