2M scholars shined on the Brookside stage this Friday as they performed their class play, Rose’s Garden. With a message about helping neighbors and coming together to give a community hope, 2M's play celebrated supporting strangers with acts of kindness. The play was based the story of Rose Kennedy and on the picture book of the same title by Peter H. Reynolds, one of our author visitors at this year’s book fair.
Students collaborated throughout every phase of the play process, from brainstorming ideas for what they'd like their play to sound like, to designing the scenery, posters, and programs. Before the winter break and for the past two weeks, 2M students were very busy learning lines, cues, song lyrics, and movements to bring their play to life, as well as learning acting skills that helped them convey their message to the audience. Although nervous for the performance, the students have supported each other throughout the entire process and were excited to stand together on stage. They have much to be proud of, and will always have the memory of their second grade play.
