2nd grade celebrated their reading accomplishments this week by sharing their non-fiction reading projects with each other. This reading celebration wrapped up students study of non-fiction reading which serve as building blocks as they will embark on non-fiction research and writing work after the holiday break both in class and with Ms. D'Urso in Library class. Also this week, students worked to put the finishing touches on the persuasive reviews they selected to publish. Students each selected either a book, a toy/game or a place to eat to draft a persuasive review about. Students all worked through the writing progress to plan, draft, revise, edit and carefully recopy their final draft to experience the milestone of being a published persuasive review writer. As the new year approaches, students also took a little time to reflect on work they have done to date in second grade and consider an area that they want to work to improve on in the coming new year. Students jotted down a goal for the new year and posted in a visible spot to help them focus their efforts when they return from winter break.
The 2nd Grade Team sends best wishes for a wonderful winter break. We looking forward to seeing everyone again 2017!
