It was a busy week at Brookside! To begin the week, Second Graders turned their Monday blues into a celebration of 100 days of hard work by experimenting with activities centered abound the number 100. Classes crafted structures of 100 blocks and legos, engaged in activities for 100 seconds, and challenged ourselves with "one hundred" word puzzles. It seems like only yesterday that we were entering our classrooms for the first day of Second Grade. We can't believe that we are 100 days smarter and 100 days closer with our friends at MKA!
This week was also a time to celebrate our love of reading with National Read Across America Week! Each year, schools all across our country celebrate Dr. Seuss and his books because many of us began reading and learned to read using his very books! To celebrate the week, students dressed up to honor a different book each day. It was fun to wear animal prints to honor If I Ran the Zoo, wacky socks for Fox in Socks, or stripes for The Cat in the Hat. It was especially exciting to welcome members into our community into our classrooms to read a book of their choice and talk to the Second Graders about what they love about reading. We had so many questions! What a great week!
